Lifestyle Swim School
End of February-March-April 2012
Infants/Toddler and Tyke Schedule and Preschool
|
Parents may select from either of the two
formats listed below for their child's classes. The first format, the
Optimal Track, follows the natural learning progression of this early age
group (consistent exposure, practice, a little bit on a lot of days) and meets 4
times per week for 4 weeks. The second format, the Extended Track,
meets 2 times per week for 8 weeks and requires additional practice at home to
provide adequate exposure and practice necessary for learning. Both tracks offer
up to 15 or 16 classes within a session. It is
recommended that you try to attend at least 1/2 of the classes you
enrolled for in your registered course. To be fair to everyone and to keep
our prices affordable, missed classes can not be
carried over to the next session. Classes are subject to minimum and maximum enrollments.
We plan for 12 students per class.
Some classes may be combined. |

Refer to blue tabs at top this of page for complete swim school
information, policies, directions, parking, how to register, missed
classes, etc.... |

We will continue to teach our
infant/toddler swim classes this winter in Boca Raton. Beginning in
October, our
week-day classes make our annual move from the FAU main pool. We need to make
room for the FAU varsity swim team. The college swimmers require cooler
water for proper training, making it a bit too chilly for our baby
swimmers. Every year in the fall and "winter" we have been most
fortunate to hold our classes hosted by you, our current swim school
families at your heated home,
club and community pools.
Host
a Lifestyle Swim School week-day class!! Help keep the week-day class
offering a wonderful option. What could be more convenient than walking out your back
door to class. A most unique opportunity to share your heated
pool with like minded, in tune, nurturing, "mindful parents" who connect
with their children.
Host a class at your heated
home, community or club pool.
We would also consider teaching early
afternoon classes if this would make it more advantageous for our host to
offer their pool.
Week-end classes will continue as usual through-out the fall and winter at the heated Florida Atlantic University A.D. Henderson School....
|
| Beginning in October for week
day classes |
| Your
pool-heated to at least 90 degrees, baby friendly neighbors, plenty
of parking |
| 2 days per
week M/W or T/Th (if you have the time... 4 X per week
would amazing) |
| We register
and enroll a class of 7-8 students |
| Host
receives $50 discount on class fee on their first child |
| We would also
consider teaching early afternoon classes if this would make it more
advantageous for our host to offer their pool. |
|
Some of you may have a club pool that
will allow in babies and non- members. (Note: many clubs and
communities here are NOT family/baby friendly or will not allow in
non-members, so please check and get
permission first!). In the cooler months
we sell swim caps and baby wet suits so we can swim year a round in
comfort. We will take a break over Christmas and New Years and
Jaunuary's cooler weather.

Track II
Extended Learning Track
(check
with Rob and Kathy for location and directions)
The Extended Learning Track is an option available to accommodate work and life schedules that
preclude our recommended Optimal summer format. Please note that in especially
the Water Adjustment and Basic Skills class, parents must
exercise an extra dose of patience when only attending class twice a week.
Major breakthroughs may not occur until between the 16th and
48th lesson, therefore, remember not to push or judge your child. Flow
with your child and enjoy the lessons knowing that he or she
will make their breakthrough when they are ready. Reinforcing at home, on
non-class days, in a fun, positive manner can also enhance the
optimal learning growth of your child. The more times per week your young
swimmer attends class, the more dramatic his or her progress will ultimately be!
All young children,
but
especially fearful children, those not liking water on
their face, those being introduced to water for the first time
and , or
those who have had a previous bad lesson or water experience
need
consistency and repetition as well as regular exposure to the
pool and teachers. We strongly recommend reading
our book, Learn to Swim
and viewing our video/DVD Diaper Dolphins Volume I prior to and during Water
Adjustment and Basic Skills and
Learn to Swim and Diaper Dolphins
Volume II prior to and
during Safety Techniques I, II, Advanced Safety Techniques and Water
Tykes.
