Absentee Policy and Courtesy Make-up Class Schedule 2013
WE TRULY CARE ABOUT YOUR CHILD’S WELL-BEING AND PROGRESS IN THE WATER. PLEASE HELP US TO KEEP OUR INTIMATE SETTING POSSIBLE BY UNDERSTANDING THE FOLLOWING ABSENTEE GUIDELINES. THANK-YOU.
In order to maintain the individual attention of our personalized group setting and it’s price structure, we cannot provide refunds, credits or substitutions other than our current absentee courtesy days – missed classes must be made up within the current session only and cannot be carried on into the next session. In a group class situation, the staff must attend even if your child is absent and our overhead continues… Consistent class attendance contributes to natural and fluid learning. The more classes that you attend, the smoother your child’s progress will be. As with any educational endeavor, you are making a commitment and you are responsible for attending class. You are paying for and enrolling in an entire session not individual classes in a “pay as you go” fashion. Once you have missed a class you are encouraged to attend a courtesy class as soon as possible to continue the learning/practice of skills. Failure to attend courtesy absentee days does not constitute a refund on our part. Optimally, you will attend all the classes in your session, but at the minimum, we recommend that you try to attend at least 1/2 of the classes that you have enrolled for in your course. Never switch or substitute with an untrained dad or mom, grandparent or nanny at swim class. Always have a new adult attend class first with you in the water, several times so that they can be trained in class procedure and become aware of the child’s current capabilities. They need to understand our “child-centered” philosophy and study this entire web site, Babyswimming~ The Gentle Journey at www.babyswimming.com and study our book Learn to Swim. An untrained substitute can be detrimental to your child and disruptive to the class.
We understand that you may be unable to attend class from time to time. For the enhancement of your child’s learning and to accommodate for these absences, we have built in courtesy absentee days Saturday and Sunday at the A.D. Henderson School on the east side of the FAU campus, just north of the East entrance (20th street) during our spring/summer/fall program. (see map/parking on directions page Directions-Parking). If you are unable to attend these courtesy classes, please call the office for availability of another weekday class. If your schedule permits, you may even attend a courtesy class prior to missing a class.
Saturday and Sunday also serve as the instructor’s rain days due to inclement weather etc.
